We’d like to take this moment to recognize the SDI regulars! We appreciate the support we’ve received month after month for the past two years from a core group of individuals and fellow DJs, promoters and artists. Among our frequent attendees have been our guests for July.

Lukeino is an energetic dub-influenced DJ, an up-and-coming recording artist and a primary figure in the Reflex Crew, a large Drum & Bass DJ collective who have produced a slew of nights featuring names like Marcus Visionary, Martyn, Cyantific, Amit and many more.

Bscrivn’ has been a Bay Area Junglist since 1994, collecting and playing diverse, deep Drum & Bass and Oldskool. His credits as an event promoter include the ELEV8 weekly which launched in 2003 and ran for four continuous years at El Rincon, one of San Francisco’s rare 18-and-over venues.

Also on the lineup is our guest vocalist for July and August, MC Ax!om! This multifaceted MC and singer has been bringing his unique combination of rapping, toasting and singing from San Jose to San Francisco and beyond, from club nights such as Clandestine and Reflex, to Beatropolis live sessions, to outdoor festivals and live music events.

No cover charge at the door all night, you know how we do!

Stunna – Saturday, June 2nd 2007

Stunna

(Defunked, Phuzion, Vibez – Chicago)

Returning to the SDI decks is the windy city specialist, STUNNA! This man puts in serious work as a multi-faceted musician, holding it down whether he’s in the studio writing upfront soulful DnB, playing keys for Jazz and House sessions, or seducing dancefloors and radio airwaves worldwide with his seamless DJ mixing. It’s no surprise URB magazine included him in their influential “Next 100” list for 2007.

No cover charge at the door all night, you know how we do!

And as an added bonus, tune into Future Breaks FM! from 4-6pm earlier in the evening to catch a sneak preview with Stunna live in the mix!

— Martyn3000

We’re excited to welcome back one of our favorite (and most robot-obsessed) artists for an exclusive west coast appearance. Get set for another wicked session of deep, funky, techno-infused, upfront Drum & Bass. And as usual it’s $free all night.

Surprise guest – Saturday, April 7th 2007

TBA — Surprise Guest!

We can’t announce our special guest for April, but here are some hints:
1. He’s BODY ROCKing good.
2. He’s remixed OMNI TRIO, DILLINJA and ZINC.
3. He’s affiliated with one of the scene’s top labels, the name of which rhymes with FAM.

Can’t guess? Then you’ll just have to come down and see for yourself, won’t you? 😉

As an aside, we’d like to wish all the best to our former resident, Todd aka MC Colonel. After our March night he decided to unplug his mic from the Still Doin’ It decks in order to focus on other professional and personal obligations. We say big up the sweaty white gorilla for the good times and good rhymes–cheers to you, bud.

Femme Fatale and 59crime – Sat March 3, 2007

Femme Fatale

(Redline, Compression)

59crime

(Drop Heavy- Sacramento)
myspace.com/59crime

Arguably SF’s top junglist sister, Femme Fatale has been holding down block-rocking Drum & Bass beats across the spectrum for years. She is a resident at the long-running Compression weekly, plays out regularly at everything from bar nights to large festivals, and has recently teamed up with a who’s-who of female Bay Area junglists to form the Redline collective. With an energetic style and selection this woman will not leave a dancefloor hanging!

Just a couple hours East of San Francisco (or under an hour if you drive like him), 59crime has been bringing out top international guests to his Drop Heavy monthly every First Friday since September 2004. He’s also been putting in long hours in the studio, and tonight we’ll be treated not only to classics and fresh dubs from top forward-thinking artists but also his own original productions. 916 crew inside!

Smoove and Jus Wan – Saturday Feb 3, 2007

On Saturday, February 3rd, Still Doin’ It welcomes DJ Smoove (Funketronic, Ku De Ta, Newsbreakz) to intimate Anu for a very rare Drum & Bass set. A Nitevibe top 10 DJ two years running, Smoove has turned SF on its ear to breaks and has been a leader in the recent phenomenon overtaking Burning Man and our fair City by the Bay. Unbeknownst to many of Smoove’s fans, he began his turntable life spinning Jungle and Drum & Bass and he is itching to break out his collection for this exclusive session.

Our other special guest is Jus Wan representing Future Breaks FM! This Bay Area jedi has been rocking the airwaves for years with heavy selections of Drum & Bass, Broken Beat, Dubstep, Techno and more. We’re excited to have him down for some deep and upfront Drum & Bass pressure.

Support on the night from your residents – DJ M, DJ Ric, Kuze, and The Colonel MC manning the microphone. Drink specials and warm fuzzy vibes as always!

SDI Two Year Anniversary! – Sat Dec 2, 2006

Come celebrate our birthday as we roll two years deep at Anu Bar!

This month we’re letting the inmates control the asylum so you can expect a few surprises, like MC’s doing a bit of DJ’ing (what can we say, they’re Renaissance men).

Check out our new flyer too- as usual, design by our man Subtek:
